Taipei Tsai Hsueh-Ni Charity Foundation
The foundation is committed to caring for vulnerable groups, promoting parental education, assisting students with their education, and providing care for the elderly and individuals with physical and mental disabilities. We strive to contribute to social welfare and public charity initiatives.
Dr. Tsai Hsueh-Ni, the founder of the Taipei Tsai Hsueh-Ni Charity Foundation, is a passionate leader dedicated to the field of education. Starting from her background in home economics, she began her service career as a teacher and village chief. Driven by her enthusiasm for the home economics profession, Dr. Tsai established the Fuxing Home Economics Tutorial Center, offering high-quality education to students while actively pursuing higher educational ideals.
During her exploration of educational methods, Dr. Tsai encountered the KUMON education system from Japan, which deeply fascinated her with its individualized teaching approach. Believing that education is the best way to cultivate the next generation and give back to society, she introduced KUMON to Taiwan and dedicated herself to the educational cause for over 50 years. Her efforts not only extended to teaching but also to her continuous attention and contributions to social welfare and public charity work.
Dr. Tsai’s spirit of service is deeply rooted in her actions. With the belief that “for every dollar earned, save half to contribute to charity,” she has consistently given back to society in various ways. From donating ambulances and rehabilitation buses to collaborating with institutions to organize educational seminars, Dr. Tsai has continuously worked toward the welfare of society. She has been honored with numerous awards, including Outstanding Businesswoman, Golden Engineering Award, Golden Peak Award, Representative of Good Deeds, National Public Welfare Award, and the highest honor for Chinese women entrepreneurs, the Huaguang Award. She has also received the prestigious Academic Award in Japan, known as the "Little Nobel Prize," and has served as an advisor to the Presidential Office. Dr. Tsai’s actions demonstrate her unwavering commitment to education and social responsibility, establishing her as a role model in society.

The Legacy of Charity and Public Welfare

The Legacy of Charity and Public Welfare
On April 27, 1988, the Tsai Hsueh-Ni Charity Foundation was officially established in Taipei City, led by Dr. Tsai Hsueh-Ni, who gathered a group of experts and scholars passionate about public welfare to co-found the organization. The foundation was established with the aim of managing social welfare, social assistance, and promoting cultural and educational public charity activities, focusing on giving back to society and promoting its development.
The foundation's services cover a broad range, from education to social welfare and beyond. Dr. Tsai hopes that the educational and charitable efforts will continue for generations. As part of her commitment, Dr. Tsai purchased twelve properties in Taipei City, donating them to the foundation. The properties are rented out, and the rental income is used for charity. This ensures that no matter what changes occur, the foundation will always have the ability to help those in need. Dr. Tsai's ability to buy properties for charity was made possible through the dedicated efforts of all Kumon partners in their respective roles. Any merit gained from the charity work should be attributed to all Kumon partners. Dr. Tsai is the kind of person who even shares the merits of her good deeds with those around her.

"Going Hsueh-ni" Cruising Through the Streets and Alleys
On the path of promoting education, Dr. Tsai tirelessly pursues her passion and determination, driven by her belief in education and concern for the future of children. While striving to expand education, she encountered a setback when she collapsed unexpectedly. This felt like a warning, and when she regained consciousness, she realized the ambulance had not arrived, deeply troubling her. If this situation happened to someone else, the consequences would be unimaginable. So, she devised a plan to donate ambulances to address potential emergencies, ensuring that more people in need could be saved in time.
Years later, when the number of ambulances was sufficient, the Taipei City government informed Dr. Tsai that what was now urgently needed was rehabilitation buses. Dr. Tsai responded without hesitation, and thus the "Going Hsueh-ni" rehabilitation buses began to travel through the streets and alleys of the city, bringing hope and warmth to those in need. Dr. Tsai's charitable deeds illuminate the corners of society and inspire more people to care for others and contribute love.
Promoting Social Welfare

Promoting Social Welfare
The foundation, in collaboration with the World Peace Women's Association, is committed to promoting healthy learning for middle-aged and older women, creating a friendly environment, and advancing women's health, safety, and lifelong learning to implement active aging policies. To this end, the "Joyful Aging Academy" has become a warm space for middle-aged and older women to learn and grow together. The foundation hopes to continue introducing more social support resources that emphasize self-affirmation for these women, helping them create a rich and fulfilling second life.

Nurturing Young Women's Power to Participate in International Affairs
The foundation aims to promote the self-growth of young women, working with the Global Women Entrepreneurs Peace Alliance Education and Charity Committee to empower young women in understanding international women's issues. Senior women leaders pass on their knowledge to young women, teaching them how to participate in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and the related NGO CSW events, working towards gender equality and women's empowerment through women's organizations. Additionally, the "Young Women's International Participation Empowerment Program" enhances young women's international participation by selecting outstanding young women to participate in the annual NGO CSW Forum held in March in New York, USA. This forum allows them to exchange experiences on the current state of women's rights worldwide and propose reviews and recommendations, sharing and passing on knowledge to encourage more young women to engage in international affairs.

In 2020, Ms. Tsai Hsueh-Ni generously donated her collection of 144 qipaos, a gesture of cultural and skill heritage. Dr. Tsai has consistently showcased her love for the qipao and its cultural significance to the public through her elegant display of the garments. In 2021, she collaborated with the PRAXES institution of Shih Chien University to use these qipaos as material for the "Imaging Hsueh-ni's Heart Memory" brand collaboration exhibition, blending fashion with culture. The event combined the traditional qipao with the creativity of Shih Chien University students, showcasing a beautiful fusion of generations. On September 27, 2024, the Taipei Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation responded to the Taipei City assistive device service by donating 63 new assistive devices, including children's wheelchairs, large orthopedic wheelchairs, and pneumatic ankle-foot orthoses, to the Taipei City Social Affairs Bureau. A total of 14 types of devices were donated. Through this donation of assistive devices, more elderly and individuals with disabilities who need help can receive practical support. The rental and cyclical use of these devices not only saves resources but also ensures that more people in need can receive timely assistance. With everyone's collective effort, society can effectively respond to the challenges of an aging population, allowing every person in need of assistive devices to feel cared for and warm. The Foundation will also continue its public welfare efforts, providing tangible benefits to Taipei City residents.
