Tailored, Positive Guidance, and Warm Companionship — KUMON Cultivates Children’s Self-Learning Abilities to Face the Future

Last year, the 108 National Curriculum Guidelines officially rolled out, focusing on literacy, self-learning abilities, and real-life integration. At the heart of this transformation, KUMON has been a global leader in practice for 62 years, continuously nurturing countless future talents!

Originating in Japan, KUMON has accumulated 62 years of experience. The founder of the Kon Wen Cultural and Educational Foundation, Tsai Hsueh-ni, introduced KUMON to Taiwan 42 years ago. In 2017, Kon Mon Cultural Company officially promoted the KUMON educational philosophy under the brand name "KUMON." Zhao Wen-yu, Chairman of Kon Mon Cultural Company, shared that her mother, Tsai Hsueh-ni, visited Japan’s KUMON and was astonished to see young children already learning middle school algebra, which led her to introduce the method to Taiwan. Tsai Hsueh-ni herself became the first "KUMON baby"!

KUMON helps children build a strong foundation starting at the age of three. Through a gradual learning process, it nurtures abilities such as attitude, perseverance, and self-learning, ultimately achieving academic results that “surpass their grade level.” With this “surplus energy,” children have more time and opportunities to explore themselves, develop diverse interests, and dare to dream. Among the students nurtured by KUMON, there are many who have crossed boundaries, pursuing careers as doctors, writers, and other multifaceted talents, living a "slash life."

Small-Stage Materials Guide Students to Surpass Their Grade Level

The two key elements of KUMON’s educational success are its materials and its instructors. KUMON’s materials cover content from early childhood to university level. The key feature is the “small-stage, step-by-step learning materials,” which break down learning topics to the most basic level, arranging them from simple to complex. This method guides children to independently learn and study, surpassing their grade level, and achieving educational goals in subjects such as Chinese (developing reading skills), English (enhancing reading and comprehension abilities), and Math (developing high-level calculation skills).

Kon Mon Cultural Company and Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation Join Hands to Donate Epidemic Prevention Supplies, Honoring the Heroes of Epidemic Prevention

Kon Mon Cultural Company and the Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation join hands
to donate epidemic prevention supplies, honoring the heroes of epidemic prevention.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in January this year, Taiwan, like other countries around the world, has faced severe challenges. Countless healthcare workers have stepped up to the front lines to protect the health and safety of the public. During the pandemic, the New Taipei City Fire Department specially established a dedicated epidemic prevention team, setting up a specialized ambulance to transport patients suspected of severe infectious pneumonia for medical treatment, ensuring the safety of every citizen with unwavering commitment.

In response to this undeniable social responsibility and with the intention of providing frontline epidemic prevention personnel with more adequate supplies, on the afternoon of May 21, Zhao Wen-yu, Chairman of Kon Mon Cultural Company, Tsai Hsueh-ni, Chairman of the Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation, along with representatives from the Taiwan Women’s Federation of World Peace and Aggie Technology visited the New Taipei City Fire Department Headquarters to donate epidemic prevention supplies to the Special Search and Rescue Medical Team.

Kon Mon Cultural Company is committed to promoting the globally recognized KUMON educational method, which is implemented in 57 countries worldwide. The company hopes that every child can develop a solid academic foundation through personalized learning tailored to their abilities, equipping them with the essential skills to face future challenges. Meanwhile, the Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation, established in 1988, has long been dedicated to social welfare, educational promotion, and other charitable causes. With the spirit of giving back to society and honoring the frontline epidemic prevention personnel, Kon Mon Cultural Company and the Tsai Hsueh-ni Charity Foundation donated medical-grade face shields worth NT$100,000 to the New Taipei City Fire Department's Special Search and Rescue Medical Team. This gesture not only expresses gratitude to all the selfless individuals on the front lines during the epidemic but also aims to provide an extra layer of protection for these epidemic prevention heroes who stand firm to safeguard the citizens.

Currently, Taiwan has gone over 39 days without any local COVID-19 cases, a result of everyone’s collective efforts in epidemic prevention. With continued teamwork and determination, we believe we can overcome this challenge together, restoring a sense of security and well-being to our lives.
